Time For Touch

It was nearly time, nearly time to meet my team. I was thrilled to be back at touch because I love touch. I was at Lloyd Elsmore Park waiting for my team, but I couldn't see anyone wearing the same uniform as me. Then I saw someone walking towards me. " Are you in Bears Gold?" she asked me.
" Yes." I answered.
"Come to the cafe so you can meet one of your team mates." She said.
"Hi, I'm Anya." The girl introduced herself.
"I'm Paris." I answered her. Then a man with a pearl white shirt and a silver whistle strolled into the cafe. Inoticed he was looking for Anya and I. The lady told us that he was our co-coach and referee. The man took us to where the rest of the team was practicing. He said sorry for being so late. Anya and I then introduced ourselves. The whole team introduced themselves.
"Hi Paris and Anya, I'm Phil, your coachand this is Chloe, Ruby, Carla, Amitee and Talia. They are your team mates this season. Now lets do some practice." Phil explained. We did some passes and sprints. In 5 minutes we were ready to face the Wiki Workz. The horn went and it was our turn on the hockey turf. I ran onto the field in my place which was wing. Our referee blew the whistle and we were off. We played defence first." Touch!" my team mate yelled. We back pedalled to the referee which is running backwards. " Touch!" another one of my team mates yelled. We back pedalled again. The Wiki Workz ran to the tryline while I was running full speed. She scored a try while I was still running like a speeding train. Then it happened. . .
I tried to stop myself but I couldn't come to a complete stop. I skidded on the hockey turf grazing my knee and making it bleed. When I stopped skidding everyone started asking " Are you alright ? Are you okay?" All the questions with the same answer; "Yes, I'm fine." We played on. Chloe came on as a sub for me. I had a quick drink of water before I went back to play. The horn went for halftime. We went back to our coach so he could have a talk to us about the game. He told us we were doing well for our first game together and that it doesn't matter if we win as long as we have fun. We went back onto the field ready for the Wiki Workz for a second time. Our team kept passing the ball around so we couldn't get touched. Finally! We got a try. This was because we worked together as a team. Our game was nearly over, but not before they scored the last try. When the game was over we all said thank you to the referee and shook hands with the Wiki Workz. We all had a drink of water before my mum/ the manager told us who got player of the day. Phil said that we had lost but I had lots of fun. When we all made huddle my mum told Phil who should get player of the day. Phil agreed with what my mum thought. We did a drum roll while Carla kept saying "Its you Talia, its you." and Talia answered " Its gonna be you Carla" and guess who was right. . .
Talia!
Even though it was Carla's first time playing I thought she was really good because she kept reminding us to work together.

The Amazing Movies

WALT write a descriptive recount of one part of our holiday.

Perching in a pitch black room surrounded by giggles.
Unexpected deafening grizzly bear growls.
Fizzy bubbles, buttery popcorn, melting chocolatey chocolate ice-cream.

Pakuranga to Whangamata.

"Are you all ready?" my Mum asked me before we left."Yes" I answered. We were going to Whangamata for a night. We were going to stay at my cousins's bach."I'm bored" my brother moaned on the way there."Are we there yet?"I asked."No" my mum growled. When we got there we took everything out of the car and put them away. Then our cousins Emily, Olivia and Sam showed us our bedrooms. The girls slept in the 'Sleepout'. There was a bunkbed in the 'Sleepout'. I slept in the top bunk. When we had finished making our beds we got our shoes on and walked down to the beach. It was HOT! When we got to the beach we walked into the water and then 'SPLASH!!' All I heard was a scream from Emily because her dress got soaked from a huge wave. "Ha!Ha!Ha!" Uncle Grant started laughing. 'SPLASH!!' Then we all got wet. "Okay time to go now!" Uncle Grant shouted. When we got home we quickly got changed so we could go and say hi to my cousins friend. When I had finished getting changed we went to the living room. When we got there I saw Ethan, Bailey, Tony and Tanya. They were Emily's friend's family. "Lets play hide and-" Olivia cut short."Mmm, what's that yummy smell?" asked Sam licking his lips."FOOD!!!" shouted Emily as if she hadn't been fed in weeks. "It's the barbeque."anwered Olivia. We walked over to the barbeque and saw steak, sausages, chicken and lamb being cooked on the barbeque. We strolled over to the kitchenand saw Aunty Leigh making salad, potato bake and crumbed chicken."Okay then, what are we going to play?" asked Bailey. "Well we can play hide and-" Olivia's sentence cut short again."DINNER'S UP!!" Yelled Uncle Grant. "Yay!" we yelled. We all grabbed different kinds of delicious food. My favourite was the potato bake. When we finished the yummiest dinner ever, we had to say goodbye to Ethan and his family. Then we went to get our pyjamas on. "It's time for bed" said Aunty Leigh."Do we have to?" moaned Emily."Yes, it's getting late and you have to be ready for another action-packed day" replied Aunty Leigh."Alright" said Emily. "Goodnight, Aunty Leigh" we all said.

"Ahh"my sister yawned as we all woke up."It's cold up here on this bed." I said to my cousins." Well then come down here, with us." answered my cousin Emily. So I climbed down from the top bunk down to the ground. Then we all walked over to my Aunty and Uncle's room to say good morning. Then they led us to the kitchen for breakfast."The options are cocoapops, toast, weet-bix or starve." said Uncle Grant. When I finished my cocoapops, we all quickly got changed into our togs, because we were going for a 3 minute walk to the beach. When it was time to go to the beach, we all grabbed our boogie-boards, out of the garage and ran down to the beach with my Uncle, Aunty, Mum, Dad and my cousins. When we got there the tide was 2 metres from the grass. We ran staight down to the water with our boogie-boards strapped around our wrists and waited for a wave to come. When a wave came we looked at the sand and lay on our boogie-boards until the wave went under us then. . .  SWOOSH!! The wave made me go onto the sand. So I ran back out into the water. When it was 11:30 we walked back home for lunch. For lunch we had sandwiches. In the sandwiches was ham, chicken, lettuce and cheese. With the sandwiches was chips and biscuits. After the most delicious lunch I have ever had we went to the estuary and saw the New Zealand dotteral. The water was absolutely crystal clear. then we walked up to the dairy and got an ice-cream. The ice-cream flavour that I got was maple shortcake. It was YUMM!!!!! When we got home it was nearly 5:00 pm. Uncle Grant said it was time to go to Clark Island. We were going to walk there at low tide. When we got to the beach we ran over to Clark Island. As soon as we got there we found a stick and wrote something on the sand. I wrote my name. While I was playing in the water, all of my cousins went with Tony for a bush walk. The tide was getting so my Mum took me back to the other side. We waited but the others were still not back. I was getting scared, but then. . . "Theres Emily. I can see her pink togs amongest the trees!" I yelled in suprise. "They better get here in time" My Mum said. 3 minutes later they got across. It was cold so we quickly got in the car. When we got home we changed into our pyjamas and went to have dinner. For dinner we had homemade pizza. When we finished dinner it was time for us to leave on our journey back to Pakuranga.

Term 1 Recount

Our trip to Te Tuhi

The sun was gleaming so bright it was as glossy as the stars and the moon of the night sky, as we walked silently out of school.Room 28 were going to Te Tuhi art centre in Pakuranga . We were going to present our play and create a collage poster based on our maori legend, How Maui slowed the sun.We got there by walking. Before we went to Te Tuhi art centre we got into a group of 4. Then 1 person from each group got their bag and put their group’s water-bottles in it.After that we got our hats and put them on our heads and started marching quietly out of school. The hills made us exhausted.

When we got to Te Tuhi art centre we walked inside and met our art teacher, Jeremy. “Put your bags and hats in this white storage box please” Jeremy instructed us. He said to us to line up in front of an art gallery, to perform our play.We had so much fun. We had a discussion about our performance.Next we went into the art studio to create our collage poster. We all had a different job to do on our poster. I was doing the steaming hot sun.I had to use hot colors for that. When we had completed our posters we got up and showed our posters to everyone. We had a chat about our favourite bit about the poster.

After that we walked out of the art studio and back to white storage box. We grabbed our bags and said goodbye to Jeremy. Then we set off  on our journey again, back to school. I had so much fun at Te Tuhi art centre,it was an amazing learning experience.
